"The four lead their listeners through songs, reels, jigs and polkas, Celtic tunes learned from books and sessions, a seafaring tale from Newfoundland and a jig written by a Swede." Paste Magazine, November 2005

"This is old time craftsmanship- no screaming guitars or complicated setups here. It is also an eminently listenable and enjoyable CD if you want to hear music that is not out to make a point except the enjoyment of an art and a craft well done. .....Silver Arm has a style that doesn't swamp your senses, but makes you feel serene. It is a much needed voice in the Celtic music of today....."
"The art on the CD sleeve of Celtic interlace links is by Silver Arm's Cindy Matyi - an excellent visual expression of the continuity of the music herein... "

"Never Despair" lives up to its title in a warmly played, sweetly sung set.... Cincinnati Enquirer

While the band revels in traditional reels and jigs, its arrangements remain original and modern....the group's most intricate musical effort yet, creatively weaving banjo and oboe with such traditional Celtic instruments as bouzouki, pipes, whistles, flutes and concertina....
Cincinnati Post

"Never Despair" mixes tender balladry with up-tempo, adrenalized Irish dance tunes.... a lovely example of refined traditionalism spotlighted by singer Katie Else's lilting, emotive vocals and the musicians' often spellbinding playing ability....

For an unusual blend of Celtic traditions, I recommend Silver Arm's album The Beech Tree. The Cincinnati five-piece do a really nice job on many wide-ranging tunes, from standard Irish and Scottish fare to the latest compositions from French hurdy-gurdy players. In addition to the fiddles, flutes and whistles, guitar and mando-things that all the acts seem to have these days, Silver Arm features concertina, a nice part of the tradition that's too little seen. And to supplement her whistles, band member Carla Dundes also plays the oboe, not really a Celtic instrument but a great sound nonetheless, adding harmony, texture and richness to the band's sparkling sound....any album with such skillful playing, unusual tunes and fresh arrangements deserves a hearing.
Steve Winnick, Dirty Linen Magazine

...a lovely, lilting debut CD.... beautifully played and well-sung.
Larry Nager, Cincinnati Enquirer

The band is not afraid to update the traditional, often writing additional melodies and verses. Fans of the genre will find a tightly knit group that plays with reverence and subtlety.
Rick Bird, Cincinnati Post

It's all done with expert grace and ease, combining the traditional instruments (bodhrán, whistle, fiddle, flute and mandolin, among others) with an evident love and respect for the traditional sound.
